Testimonials

  • We never thought our son would take a shower daily, help with chores, go out for lunch, or go to the library and look at magazines. But since living in the C.H.A.M.P. Program he has done all these things and more. We hope other parents have the opportunity to see their child experience this type of recovery.

Residential Services

The Adult Residential Services Division fof CBHCare provides a continuum of residential services for psychiatrically disabled consumers who have a history of hospitalization. Two transitional group homes, two long term residences, The CHAMP Program (Care & Hope at Morris Plains), The Partnership Program and the Alternative Living Supervised Program (in-home service) provide an array of support services for 188 consumers on a daily basis.

An integrated continuum of innovative residential and in-home behavioral healthcare is delivered through six service programs: the Rutherford Long Term Residence, the Hackensack Long Term Residence, the Lyndhurst Transitional Residence, the Emerson Transitional Residence, The CHAMP Program, The Partnership Program and the Alternative Living Supervised Program.

Services provided in these programs include:

  • 24-hour supervision
  • 24-hour psychiatric on-call assistance
  • Psychiatric evaluation
  • Medication monitoring
  • Nursing assessments
  • Personal care training
  • Assistance with activities of daily living
  • Recreational programs
  • Referral to community services

Rutherford Long Term Residence

The Rutherford Long Term Residence provides services for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness which prevents them from living independently.

This 15-bed facility in a Victorian-style home is supervised 24 hours a day by specially trained counselors. Individuals have access to an in-house day program and various community resources.

Hackensack Long Term Residence

This fully-supervised 7-bed facility provides services similar to those at the Rutherford Long Term Residence. Individuals reside in a modern home close to all the resources of the county seat.

Lyndhurst Transitional Residence

This transitional residence provides services for individuals who have been recently hospitalized, but who have the ability to develop skills for independent living. This 7-bed facility, like all our group homes, is supervised 24 hours a day. Individuals have access to an in-house day program and various community resources. When ready, individuals are assisted in moving to a less supervised setting.

Emerson Transitional Residence

This fully supervised 5-bed facility provides the same services as our Lyndhurst Transitional Residence. Individuals participate in a full range of psychiatric rehabilitation activities while living in a residential area.

CHAMP (Care & Hope at Morris Plains)

CHAMP HouseThis program was developed as a joint venture between CBHCare and Community Hope of Morris County. The five CHAMP homes are located on the grounds of Greystone Hospital. Each home is a five-bed facility, which is supervised 24 hours a day and is designed to assist those for whom traditional group home living has not been successful. In addition, CHAMP offers an in-house day program and access to various community resources.

The Partnership

Similar to the CHAMP Program, The Partnership was also developed as a joint venture with Community Hope of Morris County. The Partnership "villas" are located on the grounds of Greystone Hospital.  Each of the eight villas are six-bed facilities and are supervised 24 hours a day.  The Partnership Program serves consumers who have been in the hospital and are not ready for a traditional group home environment.  In addition the the 8 residential villas, we are expanding into two additional villas to offer a partial care program to the residents onsite.

Alternative Living Supervised Program (ALSP)

This unique outreach program provides in home services to chronically ill consumers living in apartments, boarding rooms and family homes. The level of assistance ranges from one visit per month to 12 hours a day based on the consumer's needs. Individuals are provided with an array of services including psychiatric care, nursing care, social services, supportive counseling, medication monitoring and personal care training. The philosophy of this program is to bring services to the consumers in order to decrease the risk of hospitalizations and increase their quality of life. The program provides supportive housing for 55-65 psychiatrically disabled individuals on a daily basis.

All Adult Residential program participants are closely linked with CBHCare's own rehabilitative partial care services and local vocational programs.

Participants who are able are encouraged to work in the community and to reach their highest level of function and recovery.
